BW 2050 Business English I (ECTS-Credits: 5)
The main emphasis lies on the enhancement of listening comprehension and communication skills in specific situations. In addition, the students are introduced to appropriate forms of business communication. Finally, the students intensify and expand their knowledge of business terminology. Topics such as describing the organization / place of work, application / CV / letter writing, export business: from the enquiry to the letter of credit, describing trends, presentations, case studies on leadership qualities and on criteria for the recruitment process, recruitment, motivation and management in multinationals are covered. Students will be tested on the course material through a final written and oral examination.
BW 5040 Business English II (ECTS-Credits: 6)
This course aims at consolidating and extending the students` knowledge of English by practicing all four language skills. In addition to practising grammar and key business vocabulary the main emphasis will be put on developing the students` communicative skills. The participants will practice presenting business related topics focusing on correct grammar and public speaking ability and participating fluently and appropriately in business related discussions and negotiations. Drawing on authentic material the course will provide opportunities for simu¬lations of actual business situations as well as case studies and role-plays. Students will be tested on the course material through a final oral examination.
BW 7030 Business English III (ECTS-Credits: 6)
One of the main objectives of this Business English course is to foster the students' interest in the English language and their enthusiasm for getting along in a foreign language. They learn how to negotiate, how to give presentations and how to speak freely to an audience. The students also learn how to work in a team. Furthermore the students are introduced to using idioms, to reading and understanding texts as well as to presenting texts in one’s own words. Detailed discussion of current economic topics as well as selected topics in „Business Law“ and „International Management“ are also covered. Students will be tested on the course material through a final oral examination.
